Grade 1 winner and
millionaire Honor Glide celebrated the first stakes winner from his first
crop in grand fashion, as Salty’s Glider won the Grade 1 Clasico Fanatico
Hipico over the weekend at El Comandante in Puerto Rico.
Bred in Florida by Lynn
Toomey, Salty’s Glider took over turning for home and lengthened to a 2 ¾
length victory at the wire in the seven-furlong event on dirt.
Honor Glide, who entered
stud at Bridlewood Farm in 2003, has two winners from eight starters among
his first progeny to hit the race track – and now adds a Grade 1 winner to
his credit.
By Honor Grades, Honor
Glide captured the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park as a
3-year-old and the Grade 1 Sword Dancer Invitational at Belmont Park at
five. He won four other graded stakes events before retiring with 11 wins
from 38 starts and earnings of $1,397,187.
Honor Glide will stand at
Bridlewood in 2007 for a fee of $4,000 live foal. |
